Sometimes all we need is just a little patience. Both Jon and I posted numerous times about our garden that we had this summer. Overall, I think it was quite a success. With the exception of the poor tomatoes, we did well. We have hot peppers frozen in the freezer that will probably last us until next summer - let us know if you'd like us to send you some.
As the summer came to a close, we pulled all of the plants, but left the struggling cauliflower, in hopes that it would grow...at some point (as it is a cold-weather plant). And, what do you know? It's growing! It's still pretty tiny, but we officially have a cauliflower.
On a side note, while writing this post, I totally got the song Patience in my head. Maybe now, you will too. Enjoy.
As many of you are aware, Jon and I started a garden back in April and have continued to add new plants and seeds. Jon has provided some updates along the way. We now have brussels sprouts, chives, sunflowers, cauliflower, swiss chard, green-leaf lettuce, spinach, lima beans, radishes, carrots, green onions, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, pole beans and peas.
The peppers and tomatoes were just planted a few weeks ago, so we still have a while to wait for those to be ready. But, we did harvest some lettuce, baby green onions, spinach and radishes this past weekend. They made quite a salad! It really is amazing how much better things taste when they are fresh as fresh can be - right off the vine or out of the ground. The radishes had more bite to them and the lettuce was a bit more crisp. Once we have more to harvest, we'll have to have a veggie party to share - we'll never be able to eat it all.
